About a month ago I traded away Ellsbury/Branyan for Rios/M Young, which really worked out for me. This morning the same owner wanted Young back and offered S Drew/Lackey for Young, and I'm not sure what to do. I don't need to make this trade, if you look below, I have more than enough SPs and I usually crush every one in pitching categories every week, and I'm in 1st place by 20 games. But then I thought, if I take the deal that would mean I've essentally traded Ellsbury/Branyan for Rios/S Drew/Lackey, which would be a really good haul. Than I figured if I accept the deal, I could trade one of my SPs without sacrificing the strength of my team and fill my hole at 3B. Plus, since this is a keeper league, Drew could end up as my last keeper (we keep 5). Anyway, my league is a 12 team H2H and you can see our funky scoring system at the bottom. Any advice would be appreciated, and as always WHIR. Here are the teams:
ME C - Suzuki 1B - Fielder 2B - Roberts SS - Young 3B - Blake LF - Manny CF - Rios RF - Dye OF - Choo UTL - Bourn BN - Kubel, Peralta DL - Soto SP - Haren, Gallardo, Johnson, Lily, Oswalt, Slowley RP - Fuentes, Francisco, Downs, Howell (All my RP's start)
HIM C - Mauer 1B - Branyan 2B - Callaspo 3B - Figgins SS - Drew LF - Bay CF - SIzemore RF - Ellsbury OF - Cuddyer BN - Rowan, N Johnson SP - Johan, Grenkie, Lackey, C Lee, Zambrano, Braden RP - Wilson, Wood, Madson, Ryan
Drew's numbers are almost misleading with how bad he played the first 2 months of the year. It looks like he is finally coming around. I would do this.
Drew's right on the cusp of being a keeper in this league. He's a second half guy, and he's young. Really, that's a tradeable commodity after the season as a worst case.
Trades are always hard to evaluate when you're the first place team. You did say the words "I don't need to make this trade", so I think you have your answer. Still, I agree with above posters that young guys are always good commodities in a keeper. I think I'd take the deal.
Drew has hit his stride and should post numbers similar to those of Young, add in Lackey and you've got yourself a great deal. Even if you don't "need" the pitching you could always trade your excess depth to address another need. Good luck, thanks for the help on mine.
