Return to Draft, Trade, Keeper and Waivers Questions

Hey guys, my boss invited me into his fantasy baseball team to help replace two inactive owners. It is a keeper league that allows for 3 keepers at the end of each year, and the rest of the players go back into a draft. He has given me two teams to choose from and the scoring settings for the league. I'm at a bit of a loss though so hopefully you can help me decide: Pos Edit Batters C Yadier Molina (StL - C) Ari 8:15 pm 41% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 C Jason Varitek (Bos - C) @Tor 7:07 pm 24% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 1B Prince Fielder (Mil - 1B) @Cin 7:10 pm 94% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 2B Mike Aviles (KC - 2B,SS) DL TB 8:10 pm 10% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 3B Chipper Jones (Atl - 3B) NYM 7:35 pm 76% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 SS Derek Jeter (NYY - SS) Det 7:05 pm 90% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 OF Manny Ramírez (LAD - OF) Hou 10:10 pm 83% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 OF Curtis Granderson (Det - OF) @NYY 7:05 pm 78% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 OF Álex Ríos (Tor - OF) Bos 7:07 pm 70% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 Util Ryan Zimmerman (Was - 3B) ChC 7:05 pm 79% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 Util Ryan Ludwick (StL - OF) Ari 8:15 pm 67% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Chris Young (Ari - OF) @StL 8:15 pm 17% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Carlos Delgado (NYM - 1B) DL @Atl 7:35 pm 9% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Kelly Johnson (Atl - 2B) DL NYM 7:35 pm 14% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Carlos Guillén (Det - 1B,3B,OF) DL @NYY 7:05 pm 5% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Rick Ankiel (StL - OF) Ari 8:15 pm 9% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Orlando Cabrera (Oak - SS) LAA 10:05 pm 13% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Jarrod Saltalamacchia (Tex - C) Min 8:05 pm 11% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 DL Ryan Doumit (Pit - C) P Mariano Rivera (NYY - P) Det 7:05 pm 97% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Joba Chamberlain (NYY - P) Det 7:05 pm 63% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Bobby Jenks (CWS - P) Bal 8:11 pm 93% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Kerry Wood (Cle - P) Sea 7:05 pm 76% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Heath Bell (SD - P) Col 10:05 pm 92% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Mike González (Atl - P) NYM 7:35 pm 64% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Clayton Kershaw (LAD - P) Hou 10:10 pm 61% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Matt Capps (Pit - P) SF 7:05 pm 77% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Ben Sheets (Mil - P) NA @Cin 7:10 pm 7% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Joel Hanrahan (Pit - P) SF 7:05 pm 24% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 DL Daisuke Matsuzaka (Bos - P) DL @Tor 7:07 pm 16% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 and the second team: C Russell Martin (LAD - C,3B) Hou 10:10 pm 77% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 C Kelly Shoppach (Cle - C) Sea 7:05 pm 5% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 1B Albert Pujols (StL - 1B) Ari 8:15 pm 98% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 2B Ian Kinsler (Tex - 2B) Min 8:05 pm 92% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 3B Aramis Ramírez (ChC - 3B) @Was 7:05 pm 64% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 SS Michael Young (Tex - 3B,SS) Min 8:05 pm 87% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 OF Carl Crawford (TB - OF) @KC 8:10 pm 93% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 OF Nate McLouth (Atl - OF) NYM 7:35 pm 80% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 OF Hunter Pence (Hou - OF) @LAD 10:10 pm 71% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 Util Ryan Howard (Phi - 1B) @Fla 7:10 pm 96% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 Util Brandon Phillips (Cin - 2B) Mil 7:10 pm 87% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Lastings Milledge (Pit - OF) NA SF 7:05 pm 7% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Justin Upton (Ari - OF) @StL 8:15 pm 71% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Conor Jackson (Ari - 1B,OF) DL @StL 8:15 pm 6% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Ryan Theriot (ChC - SS) @Was 7:05 pm 53% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Orlando Hudson (LAD - 2B) Hou 10:10 pm 53% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Melvin Mora (Bal - 3B) @CWS 8:11 pm 8% -/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 BN Joe Mauer (Min - C) @Tex 8:05 pm 92% P Josh Beckett (Bos - P) @Tor 7:07 pm 81% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Roy Oswalt (Hou - P) ^ @LAD 10:10 pm 80% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Scott Kazmir (TB - P) @KC 8:10 pm 42% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P Matt Cain (SF - P) @Pit 7:05 pm 70% - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 0 P B.J. I'd take the second team because you'd have a pretty good foundation with Pujols, Kinsler, Crawford and Howard.

Sounds good. My only concern is that the second team has some terrible pitching, and looking at the scoring settings you can see how valuable closers are. A Save is worth a whopping ten points.

Who's on the WW in terms of closers? I mean, the hitters on that second team could dominate. I didn't even see Mauer and Justin Upton were on the bench as well. That is a crazy awesome offensive team.

i can't view the ww yet until I was to join the league. Since the rosters are so big I'm assuming it's slim pickins. I suppose I could always trade one of my offensive studs to solidify some pitching, but my worry is that these settings are so tilted towards closers that my offensive power might pale in comparison to someone who stacks up with saves.

Gotta go with team #2. The pitching is weak, but with the plethora of offensive talent, you can afford to make a move or two.
