What are your thoughts for his comeback this year?
I think he threw a little over his head last year. He was never a hard thrower so I'm not sure he'll have to worry about gaining a mid 90's fastball back. He'll be solid but not great, IMO. 4.00-4.25ERA 1.25+WHIP 7K/9IP
I am just staring at Marcum and Maine and wondering if marcum is worth hanging onto. I really want to grab Niemann but I would have to drop marcum.
Nice DTKW question in disguise.
In all seriousness, I don't think you can count on Marcum to save your fantasy season this year. I think he is a similar to Adam Lind in the way that no one ever gets too excited about him, but he quietly put up decent numbers. I like Marcum, but for this year...meh. By the time he comes back who knows what is going to be left of the Jays offense and I have to agree with J that he might have pitched a little over his head last year.
I stashed him very early on and was pleasantly surprised to hear about his faster than expected return to the bigs. I had him pegged as a good sleeper last year so I wasn't too shocked by his success. If healthy I would expect similar good results but downgrade his peripherals a bit. And like someone said, if he comes back and sucks you can just cut ties. No great loss.
Can't worry about tomorrow's pain tonight.

Hard thrower or not his K numbers have been the same throughout his career. If Marcum is healthy he's definitely worth a look
