Who to Drop for Alex Gordon? WHIR

Postby pappymojo » Fri Jul 17, 2009 4:20 pm

So Aramis Ramirez is experiencing more discomfort in his shoulder and Alex Gordon has been activated from the DL. I feel that he is obvious insurance against Aramis being hurt and I would like to pick him up. Who to drop though? Any thoughts?

It's a 12 team, H2H non-keeper Yahoo league.

C Wieters
1B Berkman
2B Alexei Ramirez
3B Aramis Ramirez
SS Rollins
OF Carlos Lee, Adam Jones, Choo
Util Corey Hart
Bench Russell Martin
SP Felix Hernandex, Grienke, Josh Johnson, Bedard, Vazquez, Oswalt, Hanson, Kazmir
RP Fuentes, Bell, Howell

drop Martin for Gordon? drop Kazmir or Hanson?

Any thoughts? I have tried and tried and tried to trade pitching for hitting, but without much luck.

Kazmir. I'm not high on Gordon, but you need the insurance... though maybe Encarnacion, if he's available, would be a better option. Anyway, Kazmir is a mess. He hasn't shown any improvement of late, especially with his control, and hasn't given any indications that he's going to turn it around.

I agree that in a 12-team league some backup for ARam would be nice. You have a good team with no obvious drops. I suppose this isn't a Yahoo league (where Russell is 3B eligible), right? Russell and Kazmir would be the most expendable. If I had a pitching staff as deep as yours, I'd say goodbye to Kazmir. He's just been brutal, with no end in sight.

Drop either Hart or Kazmir. I would actually lean towards Hart, as Gordon may hit for higher average and even out-homer Hart.

Kazmir is the best player to drop but I don't think Gordon is a good option as a backup. I would look to make a trade. You have good depth and there has to be a team out there who has two 3B and needs some SP.
