Pete Rose belongs in the HoF. But his career hit total has to be looked at with a least a little discretion.

Career EQA
.298 Ichiro
.289 Rose
BRAA
Ichiro 283 in 1,361 games
Rose 522 in 3,562 games
The problem with that is you are counting the last 10 years of Rose's career where he had some really awful seasons at the plate and just looking mainly at Ichiro's prime. If you look at them within the age timeframe that Ichiro has been in the MLB it swings towards Rose's favor. If Ichiro can keep up a .298 EqA until he is 45 then it would be a different discussion.
From age 27 to age 35
BRAA
Ichiro - 283 in 1361 games
Rose - 376 in 1425 games
