Hart or Markakis ?

Postby Surfs up » Fri Jul 17, 2009 9:33 am

I have Markakis and can keep him for one more year after this year. I was offered Corey Hart who can be kept three more years after this year. I probably won't keep either given my keepers going into next years draft. Pujols, Reyes, Utley, M. Cab, Cano, Berkman , Wright, Lackey, Felix and Gallardo are my top 10. We keep 9. So I would probably package Markakis and a pitcher to get an early round pick. My hitting is solid. I could use one mor upgrade in pitching. He has Dempster (Bergensen is his DL replacement ) Harden ,Hanson and Peavy. Do I try for Hanson and Hart for Markakis and Romero ?Do I do this deal straight up ?

First up, I think Hart's run of utility is running out. I wouldn't even necessarily roster him let alone keep him beyond this year. If someone wants his extra keeper years, let him have him like the Sox let the Mets pay for Pedro's decline.

Markakis is infinitely better now and could or should pass Lackey/Cano for your final keeper slot. Even if he doesn't, you'll be increasing your chances of winning now and increasing the overall trade value of your team.

Markakis in a landslide.

Our draft next year will be weak at corner and middle infielders. Adrian Gonazlez is the only big name going back and Hanley,Kinslar and Phillips the only big name middle players. Maybe Cano can brng me a good upgrade in picks. Markakis just hasn't done anything although we still have about 70 games to go.

You've got to keep Markakis here. In my keeper, I'd ask, but the guy who owns him loves him like a fat kid loves cake.

Hart really is terrible. Just terrible </Barkley>. I wouldn't pick him up for free in my keep 19 players a team, 12-team league.

I tried offering Romero and Markakis for Hart and Carpenter but he shot it down. I thought that to be a pretty even trade. he has a man crush on Carpenter.
