AGonz/Ethier for Teixeira. Too much?

Postby cubsfan61 » Fri Jul 17, 2009 7:30 am

Hi. I currently have AGonz at 1B. He's been stinking it up lately with no protection in the SD lineup. Want to try to swing a trade with another team in my league to get someone more reliable. The last place team in my league has Teixeira and could use some help in the outfield. I was thinking of offering AGonz and Ethier for Tex. Is that giving up to much? Here's my current offensive lineup.

Doumit C
A Gonzalez 1B
Utley 2B
Sandoval C/1B/3B
Theriot SS
Holliday OF
Ethier OF
Ludwick OF
Abreu OF
Peralta SS/3B
Morgan OF
DeRosa 2B/3B/OF

Any advice would be appreciated. If you think I should target someone other than Tex, let me know.

Tex is a 2nd half player so definitely a good guy to target, but I think you are giving up a little too much there. I think fielder would be more along the lines of what you should be getting in return for those two guys. maybe derosa instead of eithier?

help me out please

Hmmmmmm.....I'm not really a big fan of Gonzo so for me I would take this all day everyday!

This does however limit "Your" outfield a bit though by giving up Ethier. Who would you grab off the WW to replce the extra spot?

I like Tex and consider him a TOP stud 1B.....not saying that Gonzo doesn't fit that classification however, like you said, the offense surrounding both make the difference!

I would try including either Morgan or DeRosa instead of Ethier but I would lean towards Morgan since I think DeRosa will turn the heat on finally for the Cards and he should be back here in a couple of days.

If you had to trade Ethier though then I wouldn't be against it.

Nice trade! Good Luck! ;-D

I dont think its too much. Tex is always great in the 2nd half and if AGonz doesnt get traded then he's going to be in a crap lineup for the rest of the year. Also, with Manny back, Ethier will see more bench days (Torre's said he wants to rotate all of them to get JP some playing time). I also dont think he would do it for less, like the Derosa idea floated by. I would make the offer.

Help with mine please
