1st veto ever- Fielder/BJ Upton for Bay/Beckett

Postby BTOWNHESS » Thu Jul 16, 2009 6:55 pm

Ive been Commishing the same Keeper league for a few years now. We're all friends, absolutely no collusion invovled. Ive let some rapejobs go through, but I could at least see a little idea what the rapee was thinking. This one has me baffled and I have some Owners pissed. Some outside feedback would be nice.

Like I said, Its a keeper league. We Keep 10

team A proposed the trade and gives up Fielder and BJ Upton. This team is in 8th place

Team B gives up Bay and Beckett. This team is in 6th place.

Team A- Needs Keepers, isnt loaded by any means and will have Laroche manning 1B if the trade goes through

So, you think that in a 2 for 2 trade, the team that is receiving the front-runner for the AL MVP and the front-runner for the AL Cy Young is somehow getting so little that you need to veto it? AND no one in the deal is named Pujols?

Silly to consider a veto.

Doesn't seem that should have been vetoed in my opinion. It's not THAT one-sided. It even took me a few seconds to figure out which side I would prefer.

Not that past performance is the only thing to measure trades on but in my points league its 726 combined points for 746 combined points...

No way thats veto worthy. Besides, its not your job to consider trades that deeply, does it pass the sniff test of collusion? Yes. Then pass it.

Our league has been around for 15 years and never a veto. We have a 260 Auction Day Cap and in season it is 290. This gives you some leeway for uneven trades, but stops one team from going way over board on uneven trades. I believe this is the reason we have never had a veto. You might try it in your league.

Def not vetoable. The veto option should be reserved for clear and blatant acts of collusion or just got awful trades...according to you there is no collusion and this deal is certainly not god awful. That being said the guy who got Bay/Beckett got shafted but still it's not vetoable...it's just a stupid trade.

Help with mine?
