Less than 7k/9 and over a hit per inning in the minors doesn't bode well for him in the majors but like was mentioned the home park and decent control should help some early on.....
Sometimes guys figure it out. This guys was drafted 4th overall and had arm problems (weak shoulder) from the start. He had surgery and missed all of last year. He has done nothing but impress at all stops so far this year. I really think this guy is worth keeping an eye on, more so than Mat Latos and his inning restrictions.
I'll take Latos every day of the week....even if he throws half the games that Stauffer does I'll take the potential great numbers out of him as opposed to something I could get out of just about everyone else on the ww/fa list. Guys generally don't figure out how to strike more guys out or give up less hits....its generally gaining more consistancy and control that pitchers tend to improve on. Like always though, to each his own, but he's just a ho hum pitcher IMO.
