Serious Trade Veto Candidate

Postby SanMiguel » Thu Jul 16, 2009 3:27 am

So 6x6 (extra cats K's on offense, L's on pitching) First year keeper league.

First place team and last place team (who are friends and have already done one questionable trade early in the season) trying to trade:

First place team gets: Utley, Jay Bruce, Matt Holliday, Jordan Zimmermann
Last place team gets: Adam Jones, Andrew McCutchen, Edwin Jackson, Gallardo

Just looking from an outsiders point of view, because it certainly looks fishy to me. Considering the last place team has barely been active since being in last since the beginning of the season and has not shown any seriousness towards the league. These aren't really the kind of keepers you trade for and TRADE AWAY in hopes of rebuilding the next year.

Hope someone can help,

Thank you

The first place team clearly gets the best player in the deal (Utley). They also get a giant disappointment (Bruce), a milder disappointment (Holliday), and a talented young SP who unfortunately plays for the worst team in baseball.

The last place team gets 4 very promising young players. Gallardo looks like he'll be an ace SP for years to come. Jackson and Jones are having breakout seasons. McCutchen is just getting started, but has 5 tool potential.

No way is this vetoable, especially in a keeper league.

This deal does not even live on the same planet as vetoable deals. No way.

Who cares? Thats his goal. He's giving up an emerging 5 category OF, another young OF and two damn good pitchers in exchange. Besides, Holliday is 29 and Utley is 30 in an era where I think we will see players fade faster after 32.
