Whats the deal with the rangers? are they planning on trading hank blalock? or what? andruw jones has done nothing since the departure of Chris Davis. he is 4 for 26. he has done nothing besides have a nice 3HR game, if my math is correct, he is hitting .150 are.
atleast davis provides you top tier defense at first base and isnt a hazard like blalock is. id liek to see blalock the everyday DH if they are not trading blalock.
davis needs to be back up playing first base in a few weeks if a deal for blalock is not done to improve their pitching.
oh and some food for thought for all the Justin Smoak lovers.....
Chris davis is hitting .348 with a 1.060OPS in AAA since he was demoted.
Justin Smoak an amazing .115 with .512 OPS, one thing C Davis never did in AAA.
Of course Chris Davis will be back up eventually, but like you said, the rangers are trying to showcase blalock for other teams so they can trade him for some pitching help because I am pretty sure blalock becomes a free agent this winter. However, the comparative stats between davis and smoak are moot because davis whiffed an unbelievable amount in the bigs and we all know he can mash in at AAA. this is smoak's first year about A ball (started in AA, spent a couple weeks on the DL then was quickly moved up to AAA, those numbers are an extremely small sample size). Also, I'm pretty sure davis does not provide elite defense at first, better than blalock's for sure because blalock is a natural thirdbaseman but i've read that smoak is believed to be the future at first with davis sliding to DH.
Wow a little quick on passing judgement on Smoak. Give the guy some time to adjust. He might not be hitting but his pitch recognition is there. Smoak is the future for Texas.

ive been to many ranger games as i go to school in texas and Chris Davis is RAW potential. more than i ever have heard about smoak. and yes i heard smoak has D like teixeira. idk if i believe it. he does not have the minor league track record of having power either.
davis is the future. big deal he K'ed a lot. he had a miserbable first half. 15 HRs and 30+RBI and 30+runs. when he had a HORRIBLE first half. things can just get better. and his D elevates his player.
