My BJ Upton for Pedroia WHIR

Postby steela2110 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 6:55 pm

I am in a keeper league with NO restrictions.

The trade is straight up.

I have upton playing U so Pedroia would also be playing U (positional need is irrelevant)

Who do you think is a better Long term keeper? I love how Pedroia plays 2B because I think that is a much weaker position as opposed to OF.

I'd go with Pedroia at this point. His power numbers are down, but if he truly is a second half standout he's worth it. Upton is too inconsistent and after so many ABs in the majors without a good approach at the plate it seems more and more likely that he will never be able to completely put it all together over the course of the season.

Nice deal, for you.

Eh - kind of a toss-up for me; both are young studs who have their own strengths. I'd base it more on team need - Upton will give you a definite SB boost, and probably more HRs (if he manages to reach his power potential), while Pedroia has the AVG advantage. Runs, RBIs are probably even.

So again, depends on what you need - although I will say I think we've seen what Pedroia's ceiling is (last year's great #'s), while Upton still MIGHT have more to offer...

Hmmmmmmm......this is a tough one but I would rather go for BJ Upton here.

I have never been a believer of Pedroia and he has had a less then steller year so far. I love Upton's upside with the power bat (he has shown some flashes this year but nothing much).....but he is dominate and 1 of the tops in SB's....so yes, it does matter what you need (SB/HR's or AVG/Runs/RBI's) but I just think once Upton starts hitting the long ball daily and still steals 2-3 SB's daily then you will regret it!

Take or keep Upton IMO!

Good Luck!

Upton easily here...

Pedroia overachieved last year and is overvalued IMO. Upton has legit 50 SB speed, and has some pop in his bat as well.

upton all the way. he's shown that he has 30 HR power and 50 steal speed. offense in TB is just as good as BOS and if they are both the same $ to keep you have to go with the MUCH higher upside (in everything but average).

I hold on to BJ here especially if it a keeper.

I would take Bossman Junior over Pedroia. The steals and the power that has to come out soon make him a beast.
