Drop Joba and Grab who??? 100% Guarantee WHIP!!!

Postby WhipperSnappers44 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 1:48 pm

Hey all,

12 Team Standard Yahoo "ROTO" League! Curently 4th place and I am over by a couple in each of my positions (except for Pitching in which I am over by +50)

I am doing pretty decent though in all the CATS except for ERA/WHIP in which I am dead last and have been the whole season!

I am going to start sitting pitchers until I can get back to not going over on my innings but in the meantime and for the remainder of the season who should I have on my squad?

Please advise on who I should be keeping and dropping from my pitching staff (I know that JOBA is almost guaranteed for a drop right due to his high ERA/WHIP and the fact that he may be going back to the pen???)

Waiver Wire Pitchers available (if you know of a diamond that's not highly owned then please advise and I will check if they are available):

F.Liriano, A.Harang, JA.Happ, J.Marquis, G.Floyd, E.Volquez(DL), E.Santana, A.Cook, D.Braden, N.Blackburn, J.Washburn, T.Wakefield, R.Johnson(DL), R.Porcello, C.Volstad, J.Pineiro, M.Pelfrey, K.Lohse, D.Meyer, P.Martinez

Thanks for the advice and I will help yours if needed!!!

My Team:
B.Inge, J.Morneau, R.Cano, M.Young, J.Rollins, G.Sizemore, C.Granderson, S.Victorino, BJ.Upton, (Bench-J.Bartlett, Chipper, Magglio)

***Pitchers***- E.Jackson, R.Nolasco, JOBA, C.Zambrano, R.Romero, R.Wells, T.Hanson, K.Slowley(DL), C.Qualls, J.Valverde

Think I'd hang onto Joba for the time being (though I wouldn't start him) while I'd take a punt on Liriano and Ervin Santana at the expense of Maggs and Randy Wells.

Dan Meyer's not a bad add for you. You're ahead on innings, and he won't pitch many, but he's had good ratios and will toss in a few saves (hopefully -- barring a trade, or Nunez taking command of the closer spot).

Though I'd drop Magglio before Joba, as well.

Surprisingly (to me at least), I say hang on to Joba. Slowey should provide a decent boost in WHIP and ERA once he's back and his luck evens out. None of the other guys out there are going to be big difference makers and hey, at least Joba never goes late into games, so he won't eat a ton of innings.

I do like Braden a little, but I'm not sure I'd make the move for him. He's a guy to keep an eye on, though.

Hello all,

I am going to bring this post back in the picture because I have another dilema with it!

I just noticed (actually I noticed before but forgot to include it)......that I am 50+ innings over in the Roto league.

With that being said....do I still drop Joba and pick up another pitcher or do I just stand pat since I probably won't be playing any of the pitchers anyway except for my studs and on good matchups (at least until I get the innings down)?

Also, if you get to this in time.....I am sitting R.Romero (against Boston) and R.Nolasco (against Philly) and starting Zambrano (against Wash) today just becase of the bad matchups/good matchup and to lower those over innings.....is this the right thing to do?

Thanks again for the help and as always....I'll help yours guaranteed!!!

I think I would still drop Joba for Liriano. It's not a big deal because you won't be starting him, so why not give Liriano a shot? He had a great second half last year! I would say just drop Joba for a batter, but you hitting is STACKED!

Ervin Santana had a good start last night, right? keep an eye on him - I would drop Jaba with all those other options that are as good and even better

I think you should drop Joba for Santana. E had a great start against the As and if he's healthy he should return to form. He could be a great add for the 2nd half.

Help with mine please
