Martin or Bengie Molina?

Postby TomBrooklyn » Wed Jul 15, 2009 10:50 am

I have Russell Martin but just picked up Bengie Molina on the Wire. (His All-Star brother was there also) I don't think I ought to displace Marco Scaturo out of the Util spot to accomodate him.

Who looks better to start at Catcher, B Molina or R Martin? I lose some SBs with Martin but I'm last in the league in SBs anyway and only have some chance of moving up one spot if anything.

Use Martin in your catcher spot and replace Scutaro for Molina in your Util spot. Scutaro has some tough match ups over the next few days. Martin is the best bet for you at catcher going forward.

Tom, you have to make several trades urgently. Having 7 RP is ridiculous. Marmol has minimal value for you and if you can't package him in a deal then drop him. Try making a trade using Molina and your best closer (Lidge or Soriano) for a decent SP. I would also dump Pierre and pick up a SP a.s.a.p. You must have some decent options in FA in a 10 teamer.

I've had terrible luck with SPs. I drafted DiceK and E Santana. I dropped Santana to the wire but I was able to get Lidge for DiceK at least.

I just dropped Marmol and traded Lidge for Matt Garza straight up. That should help considerably.

Hi NZ,

I don't think their are any SPs in FA that are worth dropping an active closer for. But I listed whoevers on the first page below. I have one slot for spot starters now.

However, I just made another trade. I gave Hanley for Derek Jeter and Johan Santana. I figure this is going to cost me about one point each in average, HR, and RBI but should give me more than that in Ws (which I was going to punt before, but now there's hope), Ks, ERA and WHIP. SBs I'm so far behind I will never leave the basement.

With only 97 starts, way behind everyone else, I am on track to get 7-8 and maybe even 9 points in Ks. I was hoping to pick up a couple of points in ERA and WHIP before but with these two new pitchers maybe I can pick up even more points in ERA and WHIP. I may even be able to pick up a couple of points in Ws now, which I had thought earlier was going to be a punt.

I lost my internet connection for 17 days in late June/early July with David Wells on the bench exactly when he went on a 4 start Win streak. I failed to plug in a starter for whatever oversight twice this season and both those starts went for Wins. Just more bad luck on top of my two bad draft picks (Santana and Dice K) and my first SP draftee Lee who has had good periferals but few Ws, which has combined to create a disaster in my SP stats except for Ks.

David Wells :-?

Gavin Floyd is the only pitcher on that list that should be owned in a 10 teamer.
