Talk to me about All Star game pitchers

There was a good deal of conversation during the preseason about the WBC ruining pitchers for the season and in several instances it appears to have merit.

As a proud owner of Lincecum and Halladay in one league, I wonder what some thoughts about All Star pitchers after the break in the same context are.

Any correlation between All Star game appearances and post ASB let downs?

I'm really not worried about Lincecum at all, Halladay recently had a stint on the DL but after 3 games he looks pretty healthy so I'm not really worried about him either just curious what others might know.

I doubt it is even a factor with Lincecum or Halladay. They are both pitching tonight on four days rest as is normal and neither will go more than 3 innings (probably only 2). That equates to no more than 40 odd pitches. Neither will then pitch until Saturday at the earliest (more likely Sunday). Greinke on the otherhand is slated to go Friday night against Tampa Bay so he is only likely to throw one inning today.

There is generally plenty of discussion between the All Star game managers / pitching coaches and the respective teams to what is best for both parties. That is get the pitcher through the AS game as unscathed as is practical. Common sense prevails.

The Mets for instance do not want Santana pitching today and he likely won't need to unless the game goes into extra innings.

Thanks for the input NZ, that's pretty much the way I figured it too, just thought about it because one of the other guys in my league was acting like it was such a bad thing to have two SPs that were both starting in the AS game, seemed silly to me but I'd never really given it much thought so figured I'd ask for some opinions.
