MARTIN or NAPOLI - rest of season?

Postby Maris09 » Tue Jul 14, 2009 11:49 am

I may be getting one of these on the back end of a Mauer trade.
Who would you take for the rest of the season?

-Martin isn't as good of a hitter, but he plays every day.

-Napoli has much more power and run producing ability, but with a full Angel's lineup he can't DH, so his playing time goes down when splitting with Mathis (who's a defensive upgrade)

I would take Martin as he is in a lineup that has gained Manny Ramirez whereas Napoli is in a lineup that has lost Guerrero and Hunter thus losing some RBI opportunities etc.

It really depends on what stats you need. Napoli has been crushing the ball lately and his avg stands around .280. He'll hit you some bombs, drive in some runs and score some here and there. Martin has been a disappointment IMO considering where he was projected by most people pre-season. While he does have 8 steals, he's not hitting well and he's not going to impact your team in a great way, Manny or no Manny. Napoli, if you need it, could net you more offense minus the steals.
