No way. Smoltz at least has the potential to turn into a valuable P this year. Joba's averaging barely over 5 Innings per start, and there's always the possibility that NY moves him back to the pen at some point, which would totally kill what little value he's got right now.

Agreed - I think Joba's going to be the set up guy again this year. Unless holds is category for you, then smoltz has move value.

Doubt Joba goes back to the pen w/ the way Hughes has been pitching...I like Joba b/c Smoltz is coming back from major shoulder surgery, what makes you think he will make it more then 5ip each start?...

It's not a sure thing, but at this point it appears you know what you're gonna get out of Joba. High pitch counts that will knock him out after 5 innings and a few ER. Smoltz has an entire career of elite performances. It's certainly not a guarantee that he'll return to that caliber of a pitcher, but he's at least got that potential. I haven't seen that from Joba so far. At the very least I'd give Smoltz a few more starts to let him continue to shake off the rust and see what he's got left.
