Looking to add a good closer so I can drop Capps and I have to deal one of my outfielders, I can't keep benching one of them.
I offered McLouth for Brian Fuentes and got countered with:
I Give: Jayson Werth
I Get: Brian Fuentes, Michael Cuddyer
I think Werth is a little steep for a closer but then again, I have to deal somebody. Thoughts?

You'd be dropping Capps if you made this deal, so essentially, this deal is essentially Werth/Capps for Fuentes/Cuddyer. So you'd still have an "odd-man out" outfielder, right? How often would Cuddyer be starting for your team? Most likely never over the OF you have, maybe as an injury fill-in should the need ever arise. Capps will be gone, so now the trade is Werth for Fuentes. He does have a great deal of saves this seasons and will certainly get a lot more opps than Capp ever will. It depends how great your need for saves is. Werth is a great OF, would you be able to survive the HR/steals hit for more saves? I'd only do the deal if you think that your need for saves is enough to warrant the loss of Werth.
Simply from a one-on-one standpoint, I would say no to the deal.

Right, I feel the same way from a one-on-one perspective. I value Werth way more. But I can really make up some ground in my standings by racking up saves and I think Fuentes is probably the best saves guy in baseball (note: i didn't say best closer, but for the category of saves only). Then again, I need to make up ground in homers and rbis and Werth would help with that.
This is a tough one, good think I have the all star break to think about it.

I would do it in your scenario. Werth is a solid outfielder, but he's incredibly streaky and he just went on a major tear. He's going to cool off soon. You're pretty stacked at OF and Fuentes is a major upgrade over Capps. He's not the best closer in MLB, but he racks up the saves since the Angels win a lot of relatively close games.
Werth may be the better and slightly more valuable player, but the deal definitely improves your team.
Please help...

I say go for this trade, maybe try to include capps in it to get a better upgrade then cuddyer.
Capps is rumored to be traded to a team as s etup man which will make him worthless, if you can get a bite on the trade that includes capps and he doesnt know this maybe you can get a better return.
