Rank SS for the second half - WHIR

Postby asquad89 » Mon Jul 13, 2009 6:15 pm

I've had a revolving door at SS while waiting (impatiently) for Jose Reyes to get healthy. How would you rank these fill-ins for the rest of the year?

Gordon Beckham
Clint Barmes
JJ Hardy
Cristian Guzman
Elvis Andrus

There's also plenty of guys like Aybar, Bonifacio, Izturis, Cabrera, Bloomquist, Hairston, Ryan available -- any reason for me to like any of those options over the above players?

Thanks for any thoughts, I'd be happy to help in return.

What's the rest of your team look like? That would help. But without that info, I'd go...

Beckham
Barmes
Andrus
Hardy
Guzman

I go with barmes myself. he qualifies at multiple positions and plays half his games in coors field.

i'd play beckham when barmes is away from coors and barmes starts when the rockies are at home.

I'd go Beckham, Barmes, Hardy, Andrus, Guzman. Beckham has a lot of upside and qualifies in most leagues as SS and 3B. He seems to have caught on quickly to major league pitching.

Cut one of those worthless bench players for Andrus. You need his speed.
