Nathan and Scott for Hamilton and Qualls? WHIR

Postby MysteriousS » Thu Jul 09, 2009 9:38 pm

Recently, another team in my league had Hamilton come off the DL. Thinking I could use an outfield upgrade, I offered him Street and Scott for Hamilton and Qualls. He counter offered the above: My J. Nathan and L. Scott for Hamilton and C. Qualls.

MY CURRENT TEAM:

C - Bengie Molina
1B - Carlos Pena
2B - Brandon Phillips
SS - Hanley Ramirez
3B - Alex Rodriguez
MI - Gordon Beckham
CI - Justin Morneau
CF - Nick Swisher
OF - Luke Scott
OF - Carlos Lee
UTIL - Andre Ethier

SP - Dan Haren
SP - Yovani Gallardo
SP - Scott Kazmir
SP - John Smoltz
RP - Joe Nathan
RP - Joba Chamberlain
P - Ricky Nolasco
P - Houston Street
DL - Chris Young

Notes:
1) I am playing in a 12 team custom points league with no bench spots
2) I have noticed that the point format seems to undervalue RP's (i.e. saves aren't worth many points) as well as steals relative to a normal rotisserie league
3) The following notable players are on the waiver wire:

P's:
Brad Lidge
Wakefield
Derek Lowe
Doug Davis
Ryan Sadowski

Batters:
Ordonez
Cantu
Vernon Wells
Matsui
Rasmus
Ryan Theriot

I would very much appreciate it if you would give me an appraisal of the above trade, as well as an idea of what to do with the WW. Of course, WHIR

Thanks for the help in mine.

I don't love this trade. Then again saves don't count for much but he's asking for the #1 saves guy so far this year. I'm biased though because aside from having Nathan and Scott on my team also, I'm a big fan of both. I had Hamilton but traded him when he was on the DL.

My gut instinct is to not do this trade, I think you can get a little more.

I disagree, I do this trade for the following reasons:

1) Saves are overrated, if you need them you could grab Lidge, or Madson off the waivers and fill that hole.

2) Hamilton produces for 4 catagories and will come back after the break fresh and primed for a great second half.

3) Scott has high value right now, remember this is also the guy who was discarded by Houston not long ago, and as ames get more meaningful in the AL East down the stretch will be pitched to much tougher by Boston and New York........

I would do this trade, in a second.
