We should rename this thread "Why baseball is so much better than every other sport"

ok this whole situation got me thinking, Hanrahan was traded to Pittsburgh as the pitcher of record, but what if he had been traded to the Astros, think about this and try and figure out what the baseball rule on this would be

imagine if you will, the Astros decide to use Hanrahan to start that game yesterday, and he gave up the winning run.

He would then be the winning and losing pitcher. What would baseball do? I hope to see this at some point in my life, cause I am pretty sure its never happened.

but would he even be allowed to pitch? because technically he had already pitched in the game, right?

i dont think you are able to use players who were not on your roster the initial day of the game...but then again i really dont know...just what i think ive heard somewhere

1. head for sure asplode.
2. i think you have to be able to use players not on your roster.. what if say Ryan Zimmerman was hurt and Nick Johnson had gotten traded. that would mean Dukes and Milledge would be in the minors and Zim and Johnson would be gone. they wouldn't have enough rostered players to field a team.
3. definetely can't be leagal for hanarahan to pitch again (had he been traded to the astros)
4. another point on #2 - Nyjer morgan played for the nats, he was not a rostered nat player when it began.
5. what about this.. same concept as hanarahan I guess.. but what if in the original game Nyjer had been pinch hit for, thus making him ineligible to play again for the pirates. does that status reset now that he is a Nat?
