Need quick help - Sizemore/ ARod - WHIR

Postby northjersey78 » Thu Jul 09, 2009 9:11 am

10 team H2H Yahoo league. I was in last place but just jumped to 6th.

Here is my team now:

C - Wieters
1B - Teixeira
2B - B Roberts
SS - Zobrist
3B - ARod
OF - Braun
OF - Cruz
OF - Damon
UT - Chipper
BN - Bruce
BN - Olivo
BN - Swisher

SP - Lincecum
SP - Haren
RP - Rivera
RP - Soria
P - Fuentes
P - Bedard
BN - Porcello
BN - Kazmir
DL - Slowey

I was offered this:

Jeter
Sizemore
Abreu
Nolasco (or Oswalt)

for

ARod
Cruz
Bruce
Zobrist

Bruce hardly starts for me, so no huge loss. I see Jeter as an upgrade to Zobrist (mostly because I don't see him keeping this up the 2nd half). I can slide Chipper to 3B and replace Cruz and my other UT spot with Abreu and Sizemore. I don't have much consistency in SP beyond Lincecum and Haren, so I wanted a good SP.

Thoughts? Looking at the rankings, I could use a boost in speed, avg and stolen bases. Obviously I lose some power but I think I improve in all other areas.

here would be my new lineup:

C - Wieters
1B - Teixeira
2B - B Roberts
SS - Jeter
3B - Chipper
OF - Braun
OF - Sizemore
OF - Damon
UT - Abreu
BN - Olivo
BN - Swisher

SP - Lincecum
SP - Haren
RP - Rivera
RP - Soria
P - Fuentes
P - Nolasco/ Oswalt
BN - Bedard
BN - Porcello
BN - Kazmir
DL - Slowey

My only real concern is Sizemore's elbow - if the Indians tank the 2nd half of the season they may shut him down at some point.

I would not get rid of A-Rod. I personally feel that he will be a monster in the 2nd half.

I wold try and deal for another OF I am not sold on Cruz.

As silly as it sounds, I like the trade if you cut out the 1st-rounders involved.

See if he bites on Jeter, Abreu, and Nolasco for Cruz, Bruce, and Zobrist. You'd be making a nice sell-high on Cruz. I am in love with Ben Zobrist, but his pace is unsustainable. I still think he's going to out-perform Jeter though, but the fact that you release the dead weight of Bruce and add a quality arm compensates for that.

the best trades are always the toughest ones to pull the trigger on, and you have one right here. I agree that you are giving up nothing with bruce, so that is a plus for you. Arod is Arod and we all know that he will end up putting up some good numbers. You are right, sizemore is the wildcard as he could return to top 10 form or they could start to tank and shut him down, I lean towards him having a good second half. Jeter and Zobrist, I would look at categories hard on this one. Jeter scores runs but no power and not a great RBI guy, where as Zobrist seems to be more pop with the bat, so homers and rbi are his strong points. The pitching would help, but remember that they only go once every 5 days where as everyone else is an everyday player, so I value pitching a little less. Overall, I lean a little bit towards holding off on this trade, but ask me in 10 minutes and I could go the other way. What I am trying to say is I do not think you will get burned either way-sizemore being the only ? If you feel he will tear it up, then go for it, if not, hold off.

I can probably replace Zobrist with Swisher - he is actually trying to get Tulowitzki off of waivers, anyway.

Thanks for the help in mine... I gotta say - I really like that new trade.

Jeter > Zobrist
Sizemore > Cruz
Nolasco > Kazmir
Oswalt should bounce back in the 2nd half.
And you get rid of Bruce...

Gotta say I like that a lot.

Well at first glance its tough to get rid of Arod but if you need the help in the other catagories its not a bad trade. Agree that it all hinges on Sizemore staying healthy. If you are in 6th it sounds to me like you have to do something so go ahead and make the play and hope for the best. Good luck. :-o

Deal accepted! it was tough to deal ARod, especially since I held him while injuried and now am deaing him. Plus, this is a keeper league - I've had him for like 5 seasons. But I think it will hep me. We keep 3 players total, so I am still set with other guys like Lincecum, Tex, Braun, Sizemore...so I am not worried.

new lineup:

C - Wieters
1B - Teixeira
2B - B Roberts
SS - Jeter
3B - Chipper
OF - Braun
OF - Sizemore
OF - Damon
UT - Abreu
BN - Olivo
BN - Swisher

SP - Lincecum
SP - Haren
RP - Rivera
RP - Soria
P - Fuentes
P - Nolasco
BN - Oswalt
BN - Bedard
BN - Porcello
DL - Slowey
