no thats all right i was using baseball reference stats. It listed him with eight career steals and 0 caught stealings. it is no big deal

I am interested in finding out why these things are listed this way. Ernie Lombardi is indeed listed as having played over 1,800 games witout being caught stealing once. Gus Triandos is the record holder though. I will let you know what I find out. :-)

Yeah, that's interesting for everyone go and find out why this happens, but the "official" record should be enough to make the answer count.

Ok, here's what I got on this. It's so simple I almost kicked myself for not knowing this. The reason Ernie Lombardi's stat for caught stealing is zero is because nobody really knows how many times he got caught....there is no data for him on that stat. I referenced more than two sources just to be sure. Just an interesting fact...... :-]

I knew there was a rule change about how they score stolen bases. It used to be scored that if a player went from 1st to 2nd on a hit that should only be a single they were credited with a stolen base. same for 2nd to 3rd. so i didnt know if that had anything to do with how they kept the stats :-?
