Blockbuster 3 for 3

Postby perlick29 » Wed Jul 08, 2009 2:09 pm

I currently sit in 5th place, poised to make a run in a 5X5 keeper 14team roto league. We can keep 5 guys. I am really hurting for runs (have a 2 out of 14) and steals (have a 3.5 out of 14) and have been offered this deal:

I Get: Stephen Drew, B.J. Upton, Bobby Jenks

I give: Jose Reyes, Edwin Encarnacion, Carlos Marmol

Obviously I lose Reyes but then again I need the steals and runs like I said. Here's my roster:

C Bengie Molina
1B Adam Dunn
2B Aaron Hill
3B Miguel Cabrera
SS Jerry Hairston Jr.
OF Hunter Pence
OF Kendry Morales
OF Hideki Matsui
Util Adam Jones
BN Vernon Wells
BN Gary Sheffield
BN Edwin Encarnación
DL José Reyes

SP Zack Greinke
SP Edwin Jackson
RP Brian Fuentes
RP Mike González
P Carlos Mármol
P Heath Bell
P Ubaldo Jiménez
BN Ricky Romero
BN Matt Garza
BN Dallas Braden

So, should I make the deal and go for it? Or make small moves until Reyes gets back? I am currently 4th from the top in saves, and my ERA, and WHIP are #1 with my K's being second best.

Thanks and as always, WHIR.

Thanks for the help.

Jose Reyes has seen 0 improvement in his legs and still can't run the bases. I'd do this deal, Upton is back to himself after starting slow coming off shoulder surgery.

If you want to make a run this year, do it.

I would make this move....I don't mind being in the minority when I say that Reyes is OVERRATED! Bossman Junior is a beast, pull the trigger on this trade.

Help with mine?

I'd do it. For this season B.J. > Jose because of Reyes' injury. Jenks is >>> Marmol.

I'd do it as well. I'm not a Reyes fan.

BIG UPDATE:

Another guy in the league is willing to go for my same Reyes/Encarnacion/Marmol.

He will give me:

Ichiro, Pedroia (whom I'd play UTIL), Elvis Andrus, and my choice of David Ortiz or Derrek Lee.

Do I take that deal instead, and if yes do you like Papi or Lee?

This looks like the critcal point in my season. WHIR!

I would take the second deal offered and take Ortiz who is heating up. I have never been a fan of Lee.

I much prefer the second deal and I think Id also go with Ortiz. Lee is also showing signs of heating up but I like Ortiz more the rest of the way.

Help with mine?

The second deal and LEE...come on! The guy is legit. HE is NOT SEXY...he is SOLID! Look at the stats for the past month on LEE. Don't forget that A-Ram is back into the lineup.
