Ichiro + Harang for Kinsler??? WHIR

Postby alexeroberts » Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:34 am

5x5 Classic Roto "Keep your 5 best" keeper league - 11 teams.

I've been offered Kinsler for Harang and Ichiro.

Value-wise seems like a no brainer, but it's a bit more complex:

a) I have Cano / Stewart at 2nd /MI with a shitty SS. Kinsler is a huge upgrade over stewart, but as far as a low-avg high power 2nd base option goes, stewart has been serviceable. I would prob move Stewart to the OF (he is eligible there in my league)

b) I just made a pitching upgrade and my staff might be too thinned out by this deal - Halladay, Verlander, Shields, Harang, Lowe, Kuroda, Price. (waiver wire guys is pretty thin but there's no innings limit so I'd have to dip into it to maintain K and W pace.

c) I am currently 1st in avg by 3 avg pts (though most of the pack is between 5-9 avg pts behind me) - but I am still worried that losing Ichiro will be a huge blow here.

What do you guys think? Too big a deal to pass up? Great time to buy low on Kinsler?

Thanks much,

Alex

I'd probably do it since it's a keeper league. Too hard to pass up on Kinsler. It will leave you pretty damn thin at SP, but since you don't have an innings limit you can play the matchups with ww guys in the vacant spot left by Harang. Or better yet, maybe after pulling this deal off you can turn around and deal Cano to someone in need of a 2B for a descent SP. I'm sure there would be interest, esp if you have a Yankee fan in your league.

While you'll be giving up two workhorses in Harang and Ichiro, I would take Kinsler escpecially since it's a keeper league. Like the previous poster said, you can get something for Cano that can offset some of the loss that you gte from dealing your guys. I would say try to get a P since your wire is thin.

This one is pretty clear to me. It's a keeper league- you take Kinsler. A top-10 player. Do the deal.

Thanks for your help.

Def do this deal! Having too many second basemen is a good problem to have, I would flip Cano for a SS....try Derek Jeter :-D Losing Harang is not the end of the world and you have pretty solid SP, pickup Happ or Romero (if available from the WW,) and reap the benefits of owning Kinsler!

Help with mine?
