Johan/J Up/Konerko for Bills/Gallardo WHIR

Postby RyeWhiskey » Tue Jul 07, 2009 10:00 pm

Hey all, almost at the break and my team is filled with bats and weak on starters (due to a series of poor draft choices: Myers, Meche, etc..).

12 team, H2H, standard stat, keeper league (keep 9)

C - Posada
1B - MCab
2B - Phillips
3B - Zimmerman
SS - Jeter
OF - Braun
OF - Sizemore
OF - Hamilton (just off DL)
Util - J Upton, Konerko, Holliday

SP - J Santana, Cain, Harden, Meche, Braden, Sadowski
RP - Bell, F Cordero, Frasor, Meyer

Bats are huge with 5 quality OF (just waiting for Holliday to get dealt) while SP is sparse and inconsistent. I'm looking to deal J Upton while his average is still above .300 and his value relatively inflated. Remember this is a keeper league, and I can only keep 9 (MCab, Phillips, Zimmerman, Braun, Sizemore, Santana, Cain, Hamilton/Holliday/J Upton).

What do you think of:
J Santana, J Upton, P Konerko
for
C Billingsley and Y Gallardo

This deal would clean out my lineup allowing me to plug Holliday in Util and Hamilton in OF3. It would also give me Bills/Gallardo/Cain as my top 3 with Harden, Meche, and Braden filling out. Not bad for a playoff run.

Leave a link; WHIR as always. Thanks.

I like it. You are using your depth to get what you need, two very good starters. Upton wont play at this level all year and it is a good idea to get what you can for him while he is hot. Konerko is quietly having a nice year and is a good thow in. I hate to lose Santana but getting Bills and Gallardo make up for that loss. THe only problem I am seeing is that you may be giving up a bit too much in this deal. But, sometimes you have to do that to get what you need so I would do it.

please help

I see your logic, but don't necessarily agree with it. Johan is the best pitcher here without a doubt, and Upton has been raking. YES, Bills & Gallardo are top SP's too, but since youare giving up a better SP, this would really only be getting you 2 slightly SP's for 1 elite SP + some decent bats.

IMO, I'd try to trade Upton & Konerko for Bills OR Gallardo. This way you upg your staff without giving up your best pitcher.

thanks for helping with mine

Don't like this. In a keeper Upton is very valuable, and you're trading away a top 3 SP.

I'd rather move Holliday and a lesser SP for 1 of Bills/Gallardo.

Personally, I think you can get more in return for Johan and J Up in a keeper. I see your logic in this trade, but you're still giving up the better pitcher. See if you can squeeze a bit more out of the other team.

I see the logic, but I agree with the others saying to shoot higher or adjust the offer. upton has very high value in a keeper and johan is johan.

DO NOT MAKE THIS DEAL

You are crazy if you deal JUpton. the guy is a SUPERSTAR in the making. He is your most valuable keeper. I'm not even kidding, I think he could be a 2nd round pick as soon as next year. This guy was the uber prospect and is finally putting it together: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.ph ... superstar/

Trade a different OF.

You'll thank me next year.

help with mine?
