HUGE Trade, WHIR Always!

Postby coldfusion » Mon Jul 06, 2009 5:04 pm

So this is a Dynasty League with 5x5 cats plus OBP, SLG, Holds, and K/BB.

His offer is this:

I get:

1B Albert Pujols
2B Aaron Hill
SP Clayton Kershaw

I give:

3B Evan Longoria
2B Dustin Pedroia
3B Alex Gordon (DL)
SP Ubaldo Jimenez

He's also shown a willingness to do a Pujols/Hill for Longoria/Pedroia swap. Does that deal seem more reasonable with fewer players on the move?

My biggest qualm with this offer is that in a Dynasty League, Evan Longoria seems like a good bet to be a producer for a long time given that he's just 23. That said, getting Pujols would give me the #1 fantasy player who seemingly will age pretty well, especially that he's only 30. Gordon is a huge question mark at this point but has potential to break out, while Pedroia is the reigning AL MVP. Thoughts? I will WHIR!

My Roster:

C Jarrod Saltamacchia
1B Russell Branyan
2B Dustin Pedroia
3B Evan Longoria
SS Hanley Ramirez
MI Jimmy Rollins
CI Pablo Sandoval
LF Jason Bay
CF Adam Jones
RF Hunter Pence
OF Andrew McCutchen
OF Scott Hairston
Ut Jake Fox
Bn Asdrubal Cabrera
Bn Gordon Beckham
DL Alex Gordon

SP Max Scherzer
SP James Shields
SP Matt Garza
SP Ricky Nolasco
RP Brad Lidge
RP J.P. Howell
RP Joakim Soria
P Sergio Romo
P Ubaldo Jimenez
P Brandon Morrow
Bn Gavin Floyd
Bn Trevor Cahill
DL John Maine
DL Dustin McGowan

Tough call. I would be inclined to call the trade a wash but since you are getting Pujols whos the best player in fantasy I think id pull the trigger. Having Pujols/Hanley going forward would be sick ;-D

Im big on Hill too.

Mine please if you can: viewtopic.php?t=392746

pull the trigger you are getting the best player in baseball, bar none....in A-Puj, If Hill keeps producing like he is, from a season off of a serious concussion, he should perform well to Pedroia status, throw in a young stud arm like Kershaw......damn he could pull out Lincecum numbers next year, ITS not out of the question.

Good Luck

I know that what's holding you back from pulling the trigger is Longo...I've had the same struggles all year long with him (although I've kept him)...this offer looks good enough to part ways with him though. I traded Aaron Hill early and am regretting it. Plus you get Pujols who ='s Fantasy MVP. Kershaw is going to be a stud...better than Jimenez In my opinion.

Pujols and Hanley on the same squad will be hard to beat for years to come.

Tough call. It depends on how you view aaron hill. If you think this isn't a one year fluke, make the deal. If you aren't sold on him, keep longoria and pedroia.

Agree completely with this. For some reason, I dont really like Hill. his numbers this year, however, are undeniable. If you feel comfortable with him, make the trade.

What are you going to do at 3rd base? Are you that convinced that Gordon comes back great?

Well since I'm dealing both Longoria and Gordon, I figured Sandoval/Branyan could fill in adequately

Ah yea, then I would do it as long as you are filling in positions alright, can you not put Pablo in at catcher? I respect Salty being your catcher but if you could put Pablo there it would be a huge upgrade
