Help! I can't stop my teams slump

Postby Cubsfan2803 » Mon Jul 06, 2009 1:20 pm

This is a 10 man H2H league and after starting off in the top 3 for the first 7 weeks I have now fallen to seventh loosing 4 out of 5 games miserably.

Their are a ton of scoring categories.

Hitting
Runs (R), Hits (H), Singles (1B), Doubles (2B), Triples (3B), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Sacrifice Flys (SF), Stolen Bases (SB), Walks (BB), Strikeouts (K), Ground Into Double Play (GIDP), Batting Average (AVG), On-base Percentage (OBP), Slugging Percentage (SLG)

Pitching
Wins (W), Complete Games (CG), Shutouts (SHO), Saves (SV), Hits (H), Runs (R), Earned Runs (ER), Home Runs (HR), Walks (BB), Hit Batters (HBP), Strikeouts (K), Batters Grounded Into Double Plays (GIDP), Holds (HLD), Earned Run Average (ERA), Blown Saves (BSV)

The trick is for pitching you need 25 innings pitched and since 7 of the 15 pitching categories are bad you need to really watch who your start to get those 25 IP.

Instead of OF we have RF, CF, and LF, along with two utility spots.

My team
Brian McCann (Atl - C)
Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B,3B)
Brandon Phillips (Cin - 2B)
Ryan Zimmerman (Was - 3B)
Troy Tulowitzki (Col - SS)
Carlos Lee (Hou - LF)
Adam Jones (Bal - CF)
Hunter Pence (Hou - RF)
Hank Blalock (Tex - 1B,3B)
Yunel Escobar (Atl - SS)
Corey Hart (Mil - RF)
Matt Kemp (LAD - CF,RF)
Matt Wieters (Bal - C)
Chris Davis (Tex - 1B,3B)
Josh Hamilton (Tex - CF,RF)

James Shields (TB - SP)
Adam Wainwright (StL - SP)
Rafael Soriano (Atl - RP)
Matt Capps (Pit - RP)
Chad Qualls (Ari - RP)
Aaron Harang (Cin - SP)
Yovani Gallardo (Mil - SP)
Chris Carpenter (StL - SP)
Jon Lester (Bos - SP)
Erik Bedard (Sea - SP)
A.J. Burnett (NYY - SP)

I would say that my hitting is alright but over the past few weeks my AVG, SLG, and OBP have been down. Getting Hamilton back should help that though.

I have a handful of good SP, more than I think I need, but the problem is if I choose to start the wrong one out of the 7 or 8 options I have it will ruin the whole week. I have been making bad choices for a while now and I can never really get it right. My RP are also not the greatest.

I am looking for any suggestions on how I can stop the terrible slump. I feel that I have a contending team but I need to stop this. I was thinking of trying to package two decent SP for a stud SP, or trying to grab a better RP, but I am not sure what would be a good combo. I just need any ideas on what I should do. Thanks for anyone who read this long post!
