Nelson Cruz for Mariano Rivera

Postby Douche_Nutz » Mon Jul 06, 2009 10:22 am

A player in my league offered me Nelson Cruz for Mariano, and I'm having huge difficulties turning it down. Seems like the trade is significantly in my favor, although my team is already stacked with quality hitting (with a few players on the DL). Although, I do already have 4 relievers BUT part of my strategy is winning in saves every week.

I play in a 10 team H2H league, and we have 11 scoring categories (important note: 6 are hitting).

Batters Stat Categories: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)
Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)

He actually offered me Smoltz and Cruz for Mariano, but I don't have room on my team for Smoltz so will have to drop him.

Here is my team:

Jorge Posada (NYY - C)
1B
Mark Teixeira (NYY - 1B)

I think i'd take Cruz at this point, your still good in saves and Cruz gives you the ability to possibly turn an even better trade for your team. Usually if its not going to hurt to badly a solid bat is totally worth it imo

Alright I had to drop Hart to do the trade since Smoltz was included, but I can drop Smoltz for another decent outfielder if the need comes. Thanks for your help

Ya giving up saves for a solid bat is never a bad idea. Especially when you still have an ace closer and 2 other capable ones. If he's offering up Smoltz too possibly you could improve your side of the deal a bit? Who are his other closers?? Maybe you could upgrade on Rodney or Bailey?
