What an interesting move.
You'd think that SD would want to hold onto every little bit of power that they have, so maybe this is partially a payroll move, as Hairston will be eligible for arbitration for the 2nd time at the end of the season.
The pitchers that SD receive are pretty interesting, Italiano, 22, has the kind of ground-ball/K profile that could have potential, and Ryan Webb, 23, is a control pitcher who's K rate has returned to a reasonable level this year after being moved to the 'pen.
Oakland desperately needed more right-handed power, and seeing as Hairston used to play 2B, is this our new 3B? Or is Ryan Sweeney's time up?
Fantasy-wise it might be best to see Hairston's role before you scoop him up, and also whether he needs an adjustment period to AL pitching, as some players do.
