Howard for BJ Upton and Alexei Ramirez? WHIR (serious)

Postby Midnight_Toker » Sun Jul 05, 2009 2:58 pm

Ok, the whole trade is MY Ryan Howard and Orlando Hudson for his BJ Upton and Alexei Ramirez.

At first, I thought it was a pretty decent deal, but as I look further and further into the numbers, I'm just not so sure. My whole team Offensively has been awful, and I don't use Hudson, because I have Brandon Phillips playing 2nd almost every day.

Stats - Hits, runs, rbi's sb's, avg, ops, total bases. H2H league.

What do you guys think???

From a pure value standpoint, I'm not sure I like it. But this is essentially a swap of HR/RBI for AVG/SB, so it really depends on your strengths and weaknesses and on how much you need Alexei's roster flexibility.

Post your team. Who will you slot in at 1B? How's your OF? Steals vs. power? All necessary info. Leaning towards no, though, because both players' early season struggles worry me a lot more than Howard's recent slump.

like said before, value alone I don't like it. If you post your whole roster then we can see what you really need more.

This is really hard to answer without seeing your team because I don't know how much of an upgrade alexei would be for you. I don't see the trade being really lopsided either way but I think you are getting the better end of the deal because 30 steals are probably worth more than 15 HR. When you consider that it is harder to find a good middle infielder than a 1B I think the Alexei/Upton side of the deal wins by a small margin.

What would you do with Alexei? Me I like Howard the most here and you said your O was weak. Only way I'd do it is if Ramirez is an upgrade somewhere AND you need Upton's SB more then Howard's HR and RBI. Otherwise its Howard for Upton which I don't like.

Tough to say w/o seeing your roster.

I would only do this if you were set with hr/rbi's and were specifically targeting ave and steals.

Thanks for looking at mine ;-D
