I'm looking to upgrade my team while clearing some roster space to add some closers off the free agent wire. Here's my lineup:
C: Victor Martinez 1B: Mark Teixera 2B: Robinson Cano 3B: Chipper Jones SS: Ben Zobrist OF: Adam Jones OF: Carl Crawford OF: Justin Upton DH: Alexei Ramirez BN: Josh Hamilton BN: Aramis Ramirez
I'm considering Nick Markakis a buy low candidate right now and I think he may blow up to have a solid second half. I'm thinking he is so buy low that I may be able to get away with getting him for less than Adam Jones and Josh Hamilton... I'm still worried that Hamilton won't stay off the DL as long as I'd like him to. Same goes for Aramis.
I just honestly can't think of what two players to offer, I kind of consider both Jones and Hamilton to be the weakest on my team unless Alexei's finger injury is worse than expected. Well actually I think Chipper Jones is the weakest on my team, but I don't want a hole in my third base spot until Aramis is back and I can count on him the rest of the year.
Should I try and get Markakis or should I look to get an upgrade elsewhere? The team I'm proposing the trade to also has no healthy bench bats right now either and he's most likely the one who would be willing to do a 2 for 1 trade.
Now he also has Albert Pujols, who is the anti-buy-low right now. Should I consider trying to do a Mark Teixera and Adam Jones for Pujols type trade, or is Pujols just too hard to acquire right now, where you are giving up far too much for him?
Thats a tough trade to make. Honestly I can see Hamilton matching if not outproducing the numbers of Markakis for the 2nd half, of course there's the injury kicker though. If you could do that Pujols deal I'd take it and run but it is going to be so hard to get him right now.
Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.
i wouldn't do that trade. IF hamilton comes back healthy he will outproduce markakis. i would do the pujols trade in a heartbeat. however, unless the owner is really stupid, he wouldn't do that trade either.
STand pat for now. Jones is solid and Hamilton will come back strong in the second half. And I doubt you could get Pujols for half your team right now.
I would rather go with Hamilton than Markakis. Markakis is an upgarde on Jones though but you can't afford to move anyone else with Jones. My only possible suggestion is your two Jones (Chipper and Adam) for Markakis.
honestly i think it is too late to buy low on markakis. he has turned it around the past couple games. if anything i would look to trade adam jones + a pitcher for him.
josh hamilton will have a good 2nd half this year. unlike last year.
