Getting enough for Howard? whir

Postby lyons595 » Fri Jul 03, 2009 11:57 am

I have 4 CI for 3 spots and am lookign to add RP and SP depth. The offer I countered with is:

Give: Ryan Howard

If he says no to Papelbon, should I also try to get Street (already offered to me) and an OF to help compensate for Beltran on the DL?

The Papelbon/Cueto deal sounds pretty fair to me, I wouldn't give up Howard for anything less than that, especially not Street. Closers are mostly a dime a dozen save for the few elite ones, and if you are giving up the best player in the deal you better be getting a top closer in return

in a 10 team league there are usually some closers on the ww. Any room for scavenging saves? I would want a little more for howard, I hate paying for saves.

That's the thing with our league, everyone has the same philosophy. Closers are hard to come by because we are all looking for cheap saves. SP is much easier to find. And position players to fill gaps (for example, filling HR and RBI if I trade Howard) are fairly easy to get too. That's why I'm going after Papelbon.
