Josh Outman - what to do with him in 20 team dynasty?!

Postby jmlevy » Fri Jul 03, 2009 11:35 am

20 team dynasty H2H; 6x6 w/OPS & Holds; 22 ML keepers, 12-man farm; currently residing in SECOND PLACE, 2 games behind first

Post-trades roster:
C- Suzuki
1B - C Pena
2B - Hudson
3B - Teahen
SS - Renteria
LF - Holliday
CF - Werth
RF - Dunn
UTIL - Salty, Winn, Blalock, Jayson Nix

SP - Johan (NYM), Wainwright (StL), Cahill (Oak), Blackburn (Min), B Thompson (Stl), Webb (Ari; DL), Duchscherer (Oak; DL), Outman (Oak; DL)
RP - Sherrill (Bal), F Francisco (Tex), Ziegler (Oak), Troncosco (LAD), Medlen (Atl), Putz (NYM; DL), A Guzman (CHC; DL)

Farm Club:
1 - Arrietta, Jake (0 IP - SP - Bal)
2 - Brignac, Reid (69 AB - SS - TB)
3 - Hicks, Aaron (0 AB - OF - Min)
4 - Joyce, Matt (demotion)
5 - LaPorta, Matt (42 AB - 1B/LF - Cle)
6 - Main, Michael (0 IP - SP - Tex)
7 - McDonald, James (24.2 IP – SP/RP - LAD)
8 - Thompson, Daryl (14 IP – SP - Cin)
9 - Weglarz, Nick (0 AB - OF/1B - Cle)
10 - Westbrook, Jake (rehab)
11 - Westmoreland, Ryan (0 AB - OF - Bos)
12 - Villalona, Angel (0 AB - 3B - SF)

As you can see from my roster, I have an abundance of injured players currently residing on my roster. Earlier today, I dropped Mike Aviles to waivers and picked up Jayson Nix.

I am debating the future of a couple of these injured players; Josh Outman and Jake Westbrook in particular. These two, along with Daryl Thompson, appear to be the most expendable players on my roster (although Brad Thompson might join them if he can't rebound from his last start). I could always demote Medlen to the farm if I were to make room for him there.

What might you plan to do with Josh Outman in a deeeep 20 team dynasty? I feel that he retains some sort of value as a prospect with upside due to the fact that this is such a deep league, but the fact remains that I can no longer keep him on the farm club, which lowers his value in my opinion. We keep 22 players on our MLB roster, so can you easily spot 22 MLB keepers on my roster that you might keep over Outman? If so, it would certainly be a waste of a roster spot to keep him on my bench.

For the record, potential free agents include: Tom Gorzelanny, Brandon Lyon, Chad Tracy, Phil Dumatrait, Mike Carp, Johnny Gomes, Nick Green, Sergio Romo, Billy Wagner, Justin Speier, Ross Ohlendorf, Kiko Calero, Matt Harrison, Rafael Betancourt, Mark Lowe, Joel Peralta, Phil Coke, Russ Ortiz and Jason Berken

Thank you in advance for your assistance; feel free to leave a link, as I will certainly return any assistance!
