It's always nice to find these type of guys when they pop up on waivers or grab em late in your minor league drafts. Here are some guys that you generally don't find in the top 50 of prospect lists:
Tyler Flowers, C, CHW - Acquired in the Vazquez deal from Atlanta, he's got big power and knows how to take a walk. Don't know whether he'll stick as a permanent catcher, but his bat plays at 1B/DH and he could end up in a similar scenario to V-Mart (C elig.).
Brandon Allen - 1B, CHW - Just moved up to AAA and has started out fairly well. Another 1B/DH type with big power potential.
Ike Davis - 1B, NYM - Just moved up to AA as he started to show some of the big power potential that scouts thought he had. Solid plate discipline as well.
Eric Young Jr. - 2B, COL - Although people question his defense at 2B, the guy has serious wheels and is on pace to steal 100 bases in Colorado Springs. Also has great plate discipline and could be a perennial leadoff for the Rockies starting later this season.
Danny Valencia - 3B, MIN - Another power guy who has shown some great PD this season and just moved up to AAA. Probably the Twins 3B of the future.
