I have the # 1 waiver and Harang was just dropped. Over the weekend I traded my ace (Lincecum) in a trade for A-Rod. I was wondering if now would be a good time to use my waiver since my staff just took a hit. It's still rather deep, so I'm on the fence here.
That is a very, very nice staff even without Tim Lincecum. I'm assuming this is a competitive league, not some Yahoo Public league where someone drops Chipper Jones after he misses 2 games, so the chances of a quality player hitting the wire are way less. In a non-keeper, I think you have to do it. The #1 priority can be a bit of a hassle since you're always waiting for a better player, but you it's only an advantage if you actually use it. Tough call, but I'm pulling the trigger here.
Yeah, it's a competitive private league with $$$ on the line.
And no, pretty good players don't often get dropped, but they do get dropped from time to time. I got Nolasco and Liriano after they cleared waivers, but I'm not sure Harang will clear. The difference between Nolasco and Liriano and Harang is that Harang hasn't pitched all that poorly...wish makes the decision a little bit more difficult.

C - Mike Napoli 1B - Albert Pujols 2B - Ian Kinsler 3B - Alex Rodriguez SS - JJ Hardy OF - Vlad Guerrero OF - Corey Hart OF - Nate McClouth UTIL - Joey Votto UTIL - Paul Konerko BN - Jason Werth, Juan Pierre
Second part to this question...if I use my # 1 waiver on Harang, I have no choice but to drop Pierre, correct? Does anyone else see a different viable alternative?
I've listed my SP's and batters, and the only other 3 players on my team are closers and aren't going anywhere. Seems to me that just leaves Pierre with Manny due back this weekend and Pierre to become a 4th OF....
