I would be very surprised to see Snell back in the majors this year after reading this.
On Sunday, Snell struck out 17 hitters in seven innings in his first start back in Triple-A. Wednesday, he talked to Indianapolis TV station WTHR and revealed that he's been battling depression and actually contemplated suicide about a month ago. He says he wanted the trip to Indianapolis to help clear his head because it's somewhere he's always liked pitching, having thrown a no-hitter with the Indians back in 2005.

he seems to be a classic AAAA player, awesome minor stats $hitty major league stats, may be a career swingman or long reliever, might be lucky to pitch 10 years in the majors

Ian Snell has continued to make hitters look silly in Triple-A with a 0.96 ERA, 11.3 K/9, and 3.1 BB/9 in 37 innings.

Report from Rotoworld: Ian Snell and Jack Wilson are going to the Mariners for Jeff Clement, Ronny Cedeno and a couple other right handed pitchers...is there any validity to this report? I could see this being a huge boost to Snell's value...

How is this a huge boost? The change of scenery might help his depression, but a move from the NL to the AL and onto a team with similar poor run support as the Pirates? I'm not buying it until I see it. (and then, of course I'll run out and claim him)

I think they meant it's a huge boost to his value going from AAA to the Mariners ;-7 ... hahaha. I'll be interested to see what this does for Clement, who appears to be a AAAA player.

Why on earth would the Pirates trade for Clement when they have Doumit? :-S
