Ian Snell: Killing It In the Minors

Postby JTWood » Mon Jun 29, 2009 1:56 pm

Snell was demoted to Triple-A Indianapolis this week thanks to a 5.36 ERA and 52:44 K:BB in 80 2/3 innings. Snell to his credit however, took the demotion in stride and pitched like Sandy Koufax in his first Triple-A start Sunday, allowing just two hits over seven innings while striking out an impressive 17 batters.

Still not worthy of a Roster Spot IMO.

I think it needs to be noted that Snell asked to be put back into triple-a.

It is so beyond over for Snell

A ERA+ of 77 means its over.

In that game he struck out 13 in a row and clocked in btw 94-96.

Snell Ya Later

I always have been intrigued by him in fantasy and am disappointed that he could not improve on his 2006 season. If he gets traded to a contender I am so jumping on this kid...

Hope he gets better with battling the demons

From a distance it looks like he just can't handle the pressure.

2007: pitches pretty well.
Signs a multi-year contract 3/16/08.
2008: Pitches like crap, but slags off opponents (which amuses AussieDodger).
2009 April-June: Pitches like crap, his GM says signing him was "A good idea at the time" and is allegedly trying to trade him.
Asks to go to AAA, and in a no-expectations environment annihilates someone.

Maybe they should send him where ever Greinke went, to build him up mentally.. :-?

Definitely a guy I find myself watching from a distance every year in case the light goes on. He definitely has good raw stuff, and he has a season of success under his belt, so I see no reason not to keep tabs on him. He just makes me think of the type of guy Dave Duncan would love to work with. Anyways, I see no harm in watching him, certainly not stash worthy, but it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on him.
