I have sent this trade to a player in my league and everytime my commissioner vetoes it so what do you guys think about it.
I Give My: Adrian Gonzalez Rafael Furcal
For His: Mark Texeira Jimmy Rollins
I believe it favors me but should not be vetoed. Furcal is doing better then J-ROLS and TEX is Better then A-GONZ.
I would also think my commish is alittle power crazy by him doin this trade.
His: Matt Holliday Magglio Ordóñez David Aardsma Chris Volstad James Shields John MaineDL
For:
Pablo Sandoval (SF - C,1B,3B) Tim Lincecum Roy HalladayDL
MY whole league thought this was a sh** trade but he still took it. So what do you guys think is my trade worth to get vetoed and dont you guys think that my trade is better then this crappy trade he sent to a team getting drafted in my league?
This trade shouldn't be vetoed in my mind. Sure, if you look at the rankings everyone had at the beginning of the year it looks bad, but Rollins has been terrible this year. I can't begrudge a guy at this point for thinking he's not going to bounce back at this point. Honestly, I think its a pretty fair trade, though the Teix/Rollins side def has more upside.
Throughout several threads, yearbend has shown himself to be a bit more on the side of believing that trades have to be even, otherwise they deserve a veto. That is his own opinion, and he is entitled to it. If no one had different opinions, then this forum would suck.
My opinion is different however. I don't think that this is vetoable. Close enough to not raise a red flag in my mind. In fact, I think that this is about as even as it gets. Rollins is no better than Furcal at this point, and Teixeira is dead-even with Gonzalez.
IMO you win both on both counts, especially since Rollins has way more upside than Furcal, but not nearly enough for a veto. One of the things I look at regarding a veto is whether there is a logical reason for the other owner to make the trade (otherwise it could be collusion), and in this case, that owner may just be tired of waiting for Rollins and trying to get what he can for him now.
As for your question on mine, I would get his McLouth for my Aardsma or his McLouth/Hart for my Aardsma/Giambi, and he just countered with his McLouth/Brandon Phillips for my Aardsma/Uggla. Your thoughts?
His trade was way worse than yours. Lots of junk/decent players for 2 aces is always fishy. I'd mention that to him and then point out that you are still giving up A-Gon, who has been incredible, and that you're only getting Tex (close to AGon) and a pathetic little Rollins. Shouldn't be vetoed.
That's about as even as it gets. Either side could potentially come out ahead. It's absolutely terrible that this would be vetoed. Anyone that vetoes this is probably just mad that they missed out on one of the players involved.
