I Offered Three Separate Trades for BJ Upton

Postby pappymojo » Sat Jun 27, 2009 5:08 pm

Think any of these get accepted?

My Josh Johnson for BJ Upton
My Josh Johnson and Magglio Ordonez for BJ Upton
My Eric Bedard and Adam Jones for BJ Upton

Note the other manager has left Upton on his bench for the last couple weeks. He's got Braun, Lind, and Granderson playing outfield with Josh Hamilton on the DL and Aaron Hill playing in his utility spot. :-?

Anyways I offered him three trades and told him to take his pick. Think I have a chance?

there's always a chance, lol.

JJ for Upton or the third scenario.

I doubt he would bite on Mags.

Probably not, but it didn't hurt to offer. Anyway, at the worst it opens up the line of communication. By giving him options it gives the appearance that you're being openminded and willing to negotiate. Johnson is an appealing offer, but it doesn't feel like enough (at least if the other guy is paying attention to Upton's recent play and not just his overall numbers). Maggs and Bedard are coming off benchings and injuries - I don't think they'd be appealing trade chips. If I was the other guy, I'd counter with your JJ + Jones for Upton.

yeah, all those offers arent that enticing. Johnson and Jones is a reasonable offer, but idk how much it would hurt your team giving them both up

Agreed, I think the bump you'd get from Jones to Upton just isn't worth that much. His OF is obviously pretty strong, maybe try another position player + JJ.

Thanks everyone. I think I could afford to give them both up.

Here's my team:

C - Wieters
1B - Berkman
2B - Alexei Ramirez
3B - Rolen
SS - Rollins
OF - C Lee, S Choo, Adam Jones
Util - Hart
Bench - Ordonez
DL - Aramis Ramirez
SP - Grienke, Felix Hernandez, Josh Johnson, Vazquez, Oswalt, Kazmir, Bedard, Hanson
RP - Howell, Bell, Fuentes

It's a H2H daily lineup league where we compete in 10 standard categories (five hititng and five pitching categories a week).

Over the past five weeks (including this week) I have never won a hitting category and I have never lost a pitching category. I've tied one or two categories here and there but I can't seem to get over the hump. Obviously if Berkman, Rollins and Carlos Lee turn it on I will be okay, but I'm getting anxious.
