Weaver for Arod, WHIR

Postby ROC AllStars » Sat Jun 27, 2009 3:42 pm

10 team fantasy points league, Arod owner offered him in exchange for Jered Weaver. Should I make the trade? Sounds like a no-brainer, but a few things give me pause. First, Arod, while coming around in the past few days, is not likely to put up Arod like numbers. Second, my lineup will be overloaded with 3B if Aram returns and plays well around the ASB. Under our point format, Figgins has a better PPG average than Arod right now (3.2 to 2.8). Right now I have room at Util, but when Beltran and Aram are back a high producer will have to sit (this league almost NEVER trades). Third, my SP has been a bit shaky, though it is coming around lately. Weaver has been solid all year despite predictions of imminent doom...

So, do I need Arod, and if so, where will he play?

My roster:
C: Inge
1B: Teixeira
2B: Roberts
3B: Figgins
SS: Bartlett
OF: C. Lee, Damon, Granderson, Zobrist (start 4)
Util: Pierre
DL: Beltran, Aram
Bench: Overbay, Span, S. Drew

SP: Beckett, F. Hernandez, Vasquez, Weaver, Lackey, Oswalt, Price, Hanson
RP: Street, Capps, Francisco

WHIR, leave a link ;-D

always very enticing when Arod is offered. First off, giving up Weaver would leave you a bit bare. Price has pitched poorly lately and looks to have lost his spot in the rotation. I would drop Price, trade Weaver and find a WW replacement for Price. I guarantee you in a ten team league there are plenty of quality pitchers that you could probably pick up who will or are already producing more than what Price has given you so far. Hope this helps.

help with mine, thanks

i would do the trade. arod is top 5 talent (arguably #1 talent)...not many times you can get this player for just jered weaver.

Yes, it's a no-brainer (regardless of which SPs you have left). There's no guarantee ARam goes back to 100% (though owning him in 2 leagues I really hope he does). And a healthy ARam + ARod is not a bad problem to have - one would just play in the Util spot. When Beltran gets healthy, think about trading for pitching. And think about moving a SS - you have 3 SS eligible guys (Bartlett, Zobrist, Drew) who are hitting really well at the moment.

Regardless of your depth situation, this is a ridiculous trade and you have to accept it. Just hope it doesnt get vetoed. I probably would if it was in my league.

I agree. You have to make that deal. ARod won't put up his usual numbers and Weaver is pitching well, but I'd still rather have the bat.
