2 Questions WHIR ALWAYS

Postby Guzman24 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 10:26 pm

1) What sort of SP could I get for Mark Reynolds right now? I have him in my UT slot and I think I could use another sp or upgrade one of my current arms. Or is my staff good enough and should i sit tight.

2) Ive been offered Bartlett OR Zobrist/JValverde for Broxton. I have Reyes on the DL right now and Yunel at SS. Worth it or should I ride it out with what I have.

12 team h2h 5x5 (obp instead of avg) 8 keepers 1gm out of 1st

C McCann
1B Howard
2B Utley
3B Arod
SS Yunel (inj. Reyes)
OF CLee,Kemp,Abreu
UT Reynolds

SP JJohnson,Shields,Oswalt,Jimenez
RP Broxton,Francisco,Franklin

BN Cust,Wolf,MGonzalez,Theriot
DL Webb

Hey Guzman,
I cant help you on the first question because I have no idea what type of value Reynolds can fetch right now. I would try to move him for an SP though!

On your second point, I would definitely deal Broxton for Zobrist and Valverde as long as you dont have to drop anyone who is valuable! Zobrist appears to be for real and can play 2B SS and OF. Valverde isnt THAT much of a step down especially considering Broxton has the toe issue that might keep bothering him all year and maybe eventually send him to the DL!

Take a look at mind please!

1. That is a hard question to gauge. I agree that you could use another SP, but I'm honestly not sure where his value lies right now. My feeling is to start high and work you way down if need be (but not too low, of course). See who needs a 3B, and target those teams...my gut feeling is that you could probably net a guy like Shields, Vazquez or maybe even Cain at this point. Again, it all depends on the league and the needs of the teams, but that is what I'd be looking for.

2. I don't see the need to make these trades. I'd hold onto Broxton since in most leagues saves are hard to come by and if you do make a trade giving one it is usually because a team is desperate and you can make them overpay. If I was completely sold on Valverde, I might go for that one, but I'm not.

Thoughts?

1) I don't think Reynolds keeps up anywhere near this pace, BUT based on his current perceived market value you should be able to nab a top 5-10 SP. The fact that it's a keeper only enhances Reynolds's perceived value b/c I'm guessing he was a low draft pick (or a cheap auction player).

2) I would absolutely trade broxton for valverde and zobrist (or bartlett) since you're starting the craptastic Yunel Escobar at SS. Francisco and Franklin are pretty solid options to fall back on either way so your risk in losing broxton is mitigated.
