What exactly are we supposed to do? Jump every time some nitwit rattles his saber? If you mobilize you legitimize his temper tantrum. Let him yammer on. He's contained, and at the moment he's relatively harmless. We have bigger concerns, like a major war breaking out in Iran, possibly sparking off a much larger conflict in one of the world's most unstable regions.
Kim Jong Il is not one of our major concerns right now.
US won't do anything unless NK starts something first. the consequences are too great for a pre-emptive strike because NK has gazillions of rockets directed towards SK set to go off within a moment's notice if they figure out they are being attacked. it's nothing like the osama situation. you're dealing with one of the biggest armies in the world and an area that is the most heavily armed in the world. plus NKs have been waiting for such a moment all their lives and don't give a crap about dying.
but all of the misbehaving on the part of NK is only a political move to get what they want. for US to unfreeze their funds throughout the world and find a way to keep receiving foreign aid. NK is crazy but not crazy enough to think that they should go to war with US and UN. unlike the cold war era, NK no longer has USSR and China as allies.

Totally. He scares me because he's nuts though....maybe nuts enough to cast the first stone. Probably not though. But if he did....yikes,
But yeah this situation in Iran is FAR more pressing.
Personally, they scare the crap out of me. I can't beleive the amount of smack they spew either, I hope our lazers can shoot their rockets down over the ocean before they reach US soil. They're looking for any reason to use the US as an excuse to go to war. Thankfully, we no longer have a complete jackass in the White House that would be happy to take the bait and "let them dogs hunt" or try some other dumbass hick move.

Too funny. You do realize that Bush's "cowboy" and "loose cannon" stigmas kept North Korea's mouth shut, yes? Now that Obama is in and North Korea knows Obama isn't going to do anything, they've opened their mouths and become dangerous.
Bush had his faults, and they were big ones, but bashing just to bash and when it completely makes no sense is just silly.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
Talk is cheap. Until North Korea actually do something to another country are they worth the USA's time?

What is Obama's plan to deal with North Korea, and how does it differ from Bush's?

Obama's plan is similar to his stance on Iran right now, he's firmly against crimes against humanity and the world community but also refuses to take the bait and be used as the, "reason" for another military conflict. That's smart, and goes a long way to getting the rest of the world back on our side. Bush's dumbass would have blocked that last NK ship whereas Obama just followed it. I’m so glad I don’t have to sit through another one of his hack job internationally broadcasted speeches.
Oh, and in no way did Bush, or any of his pathetic cowboy persona ever scare anyone from trying anything. The deterrence is in the military we command and the allies we could conceivably have againt NK (China, Japan, S. Korea, several other strategic locations of whom I think Kim is crazy enough not to care about) but that has been strained due to the Jackass Cowboy and his idiotic invasion of the wrong damn country.

Agreed that Bush would have already stopped the North Korean ship. Wouldn't be a popular move on the global scale, but national security and protecting our country isn't a popularity contest. But yeah, you're right that it is just a coincidence that North Korea is making noise now... AFTER the "cowboy" unpredictable president is no longer in office and he's replaced by someone everyone knows isn't going to do anything...
