Rollins for Pence OR Ellsbury? WHIR

Postby travtufts » Thu Jun 25, 2009 11:34 am

An owner in my league is offering up the utterly disappointing Jimmy Rollins for either Pence or Ellsbury. It's a keeper league, and I would likely be keeping Pence and Ellsbury (at this point). Rollins is definitely not a keeper after this year. I do need help at SS, so if anyone thinks Rollins is turning it around in the second half say it loud and proud!

Thanks! H2H roto stats, 10 team league.

My team:
C Pablo Sandoval (SF - C,1B,3B)
1B Prince Fielder (Mil - 1B)
2B Mark DeRosa (Cle - 2B,3B,OF)
3B David Wright (NYM - 3B)
SS Marco Scutaro (Tor - 2B,3B,SS)
OF Nate McLouth (Atl - OF)
OF Jacoby Ellsbury (Bos - OF)
OF Álex Ríos (Tor - OF)
Util Kevin Youkilis (Bos - 1B,3B)
SP Jon Lester (Bos - SP)
SP Ricky Nolasco (Fla - SP)
RP Heath Bell (SD - RP)
RP Scott Downs (Tor - RP)DL
P Brian Fuentes (LAA - RP)
P Matt Lindstrom (Fla - RP)DL
P Hiroki Kuroda (LAD - SP)
BN Hunter Pence (Hou - OF)
DL Asdrubal Cabrera (Cle - 2B,SS)DL
BN Javier Vázquez (Atl - SP)
BN Ryan Dempster (ChC - SP)
BN Mark Buehrle (CWS - SP)
BN CC Sabathia (NYY - SP)
DL Justin Duchscherer (Oak - SP)DL
10-team 6X6 H2H roto league with 21-man rosters.

i might be inclined to do the deal for Pence. I think ellsbury brings alot to the table, and is only going to get better through the years...

Anytime a guy is slumping like Rollins it's a risk. But Pence for Rollins is a minor risk. Keep Ellsbury though in a keeper format.

I do think a guy like Rollins will pull out of it ala Tulowitzki right now.

Help with mine? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=391552

Thanks for helping on mine.

I'm personally not a Rollins believer. I would stick with Scutaro or look for someone like S. Drew on the waiver wire. I do like Pence, so letting him go would make me sad too.

I would definitely take Rollins for Pence. Ellsbury.. no way, at this point. But I expect Rollins to turn it around big time in the second half, he's too good of a player to slump like this all year.

Thanks for your help on mine.

I'd move Pence for a pitcher instead. Rollins is toxic--you can't bench him, can't cut him, can't trade him, can't afford to start him.

I'm from Philly and I love the Phillies, but I would never want Rollins on my fantasy team.

Thanks for the help in mine,

I would not trade for Rollins with Pence. Pence is having a great year and should be starting in your lineup. There is some upside to Rollins but Scutaro is going to be just as good this year.

i would take rollins for pence, quick. The difference b/w those 2 is minimum, but Rollins plays the thin SS spot and Pence is in a talent rich OF.

I'm one of the few that think that Rollins can bounce back and could be a buy low guy right now. At a thin position, I think he can be a worthwhile guy. I am concerned however, and this is by no means a slam dunk. I have much more faith in a struggling Arod than I do in a struggling Rollins. All that said..I'd make the deal for Pence but not Ellsbury. Pence should be a real nice player, but at this point, I still would take the chance that Rollins bounces back and this seems to be decent value for you.

I have a Rollins dilemma of my own. Thoughts?
