Haren for Oswalt/J. Upton - WHIR

Postby slink » Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:38 pm

The situation: I was offered Oswalt and J. Upton for Haren. My pitching is tops in the league and my hitting is mediocre (last in average and OPS). I expect a regression in Haren's stats and for Oswalt to play somewhat better and for Upton to keep up his production. To make room for the 2 for 1 I would drop one of Mike Cameron or Chris Davis.

My team:
One year, 11 Team Roto League - 31 moves remaining

R,HR,RBI,SB,AVG,OPS
C: Napoli
1B: Pena
2B: Pedroia
3B: Beltre
SS: Rollins
OF: B. Upton, Bay, N. Cruz
Util: Reynolds, Victorino
Bench: C. Davis, M. Cameron, J. Lopez

W,L,K,SV,ERA,WHIP
SP: Lincecum, Haren, Gallardo, Harang
RP: Soria, F. Cordero, Rodney, Madson, Nunez

The question:
Who wins the initial trade? Should I only do the trade if it included Nolasco as well? If I accept the deal do I drop Davis or Cameron?

Do it, honestly I think Haren will cool off (he is generally a 2nd half slumper) and Upton is having a breakout year. Also I think Oswalt will heat up in the second half, I like it.

Thanks for your help with mine.
This is a tough one. If Nolasco is included, definitely do it. I'd probably still do it w/o him...I think Upton more than makes up the difference between Haren and Oswalt.

I'd do it just for the fact Haren can't get a win to save his life.

Oswalt, while in decline, still tends to perform better later in the year and was one of the top pitchers in the league for the last two months of the 08 season. If your offense is middling, I'd do this, and definitely dump Davis. His K% is epic fail and Upton will be an upgrade over everyone in your outfield not named Jason Bay.

Help anyone? http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=391452
