Sell high on Greinke? WHIR

Postby mikebal9 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 9:25 am

I have been offered Brian Roberts, Bobby Jenks, and Scott Richmond for Greinke. 12 team 7x7 (R, HR, RBI, SB, K, OBP, SLG/W, L, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, K/9) keeper league.

Here is my roster:

Soto
Adrian Gonzalez
Uggla
Rollins
Sandoval
Braun
Dye
Hart
Thome
Damon, Kennedy, Lowell, Cameron, Andrus, Alex Gordon (DL)

Greinke
Gallardo
Danks
James Shields
Wandy
Wainwright
Ubaldo
Street
JP Howell
Frasor
Accardo
Downs (DL)

As you can say, I'm pretty light on steals and saves, which this trade addresses. The thing is, I'm not really interested in Richmond. I like all my starters better than I like him. Would you do the deal?

By the way, I also have a manager who is looking to rebuild for next year mulling over Danks/Andrus for Adam Dunn and Brian Wilson. Obviously, I am hoping he takes that one.

I wouldn't do that deal. You're not getting that much for someone who's been a top starter. Plus, looking at your team, Uggla's a solid 2b, and if you want steals out of your util slot, you can target a steals-only of like Bourn and pay much less. Keep your ace and try to pick up someone like that on the cheap.

Yea, I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on a deal that trades away one of the top starters in baseball. Funny that you mention Bourn. His owner offered him to me for Dye the other day. You like that deaL?

No, Dye is too much. Dye is quietly having a pretty great year, and he's one of the more consistent hitters you'll find. I'd try to counter with Thome, though.
