Return to Draft, Trade, Keeper and Waivers Questions

I'm in a 20 team league where we keep 5 players. OBP instead of AVG. As you can see, my pitching is pretty crappy:
C: Brian McCann
1B: Carlos Pena
2B: Ian Stewart
3B: Evan Longoria
SS: Willie Bloomquist
OF: Justin Upton
OF: Jay Bruce
OF: Andre Ethier
UTIL: Jeremy Hermida
BN: Willy Aybar
BN: Nick Green
SP: Kevin Slowey
SP: Paul Maholm
SP: Ricky Romero
SP: Clayton Richard
RP: Matt Lindstrom
RP: Brian Wilson
P: J.P. Howell
BN: Kevin Correja
BN: Matt Harrison
BN: Clay Buchholz
Being in a 20 team league, starters are extremely hard to come by. I got an offer of Roy Oswalt for Jay Bruce. I'm currently in 12th place and only the top 6 make the playoffs, and shipping off Bruce for Oswalt would be kind of a "win now" move which is why I'm conflicted.
I was thinking of countering with Bruce for Oswalt and Rowand. Would this be a smart move for me? I know Bruce is struggling, but he's got a ton of potential. Would trading him for basically Roy Oswalt be worth it? Oswalt's been less than stellar this year. Anyone seen him pitch? Thoughts?
All help returned, of course.

Oswalt had a very nice second half last year. So the question you should be asking yourself is "Can lightning strike twice?". Personally I dont believe in him this second half. In a keeper Id hold onto Bruce.
On a side note concerning the deal where you would receive Rowand and Oswalt if you absolutely wanted to get Oswalt then you would HAVE TO get him to throw in Rowand to make this deal. I still wouldnt do it but if your absolutely sold on the fact that you can make the playoffs and compete thereafter and you force your own hand to do the deal then let it be the one with Rowand.

i think you should take the gamble. your 5 keepers would be McCann, Pena, Longo, J. Upton, and Ethier or Bruce.
and i like ethier much more.

You like Ethier more than Bruce? Both this year and long term?

I would keep Bruce. The fact that it's a OBP league and not AVG league gives bruce a little more value than a normal league. I have no stats or links to back this up, but I read in a column a few weeks back that Bruce was one of the more "unlucky" hitters, if you subscribe to that belief. So he could turn it around and put up a .260 avg (like most people believe he will).
I really just don't trust Oswalt to go on a tear again this year.

The same trade is still on the table. With Bruce being absolutely terrible in the weeks since I posted this thread and Oswalt starting to turn it on, what does everyone think? Bruce for Oswalt?
