Howard for Sizemore? WHIR!

Postby dloke » Mon Jun 22, 2009 10:22 pm

My team has decent power and NO steals. I recently grabbed D Lee who could fill in at 1B. This owner really wants a power bat - he offered Figgins for Howard which I don't like - so I intend to propose this. Thoughts?

i would normally say that Sizemore is good to get for Howard, but Sizemore has been a mess this season. i think you could get more for Howard.
the first name that comes to mind is Carl Crawford.
i wouldnt want to trade for Sizemore right now, and even one wanting to take a chance on Sizemore could get him for less than someone like Howard.

help?

I'm avoiding Grady as well, always wary of guys with elbow issues. Indians aren't likely to be in a division race towards the end of the season, so it would be possible that Grady would shut it down for the year if he had issues and the team didn't need him.

Two words: No way.

Even when Grady is healthy and producing it is close. If his elbow continues to bother him, he may go under the knife. Be patient with Howard. With the weather, that lineup, and that ballpark, he will be in for a monster 2nd half.

My issue isn't with Howard but with my team's lack of SBs. Just sitting tight won't improve my team much and Craw's owner isn't going to move him. I can maybe get Ellsbury and either Weaver, Bedard, or Floyd instead.

eventhough Ellsbury isnt batting top the lineup anymore he is still getting the SB so he could be someone to go after. getting someone with him is a bonus and of those 3 pitchers i think id favour Weaver. i do think Weaver is due to regress some but i think i still value him over Bedard.
if you take Ellsbury and Weaver for Howard you have to drop someone. i think i would pick Porcello or Danks.. but even Porcello has been good, and i think Danks will improve to last years numbers.
maybe try to work out something even 2 for 2 or 3 for 3 so you dont have to drop anyone.

I agree here. this is what scares me about Seizmore. I was offered him in my league and turned him down. I think you could get something more for Howard.

I got that same offer in one of my leagues, his Sizemore for my Howard, and I turned it down ASAP. The other owner asked if I wanter to counter, and then said he would add to Sizemore to get Howard, and I basically told him I did not want Sizemore no matter how cheap he came. IMO this is going to be a wasted year for Sizemore.

I feel your pain though about SB...I am finding that this year SB are harder to get than ever, but rather than overpaying to get them now, I am waiting as we get closer to the trade deadline when the owners with SB will trade them for what they need.

Hope this helps. Thanks for help on mine.

What about a smaller deal or a two-for-two where you get Michael Bourn? He's underrated, but a major SB threat.
