accept? WHIR

Postby ltrocq » Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:20 pm

someone offered me this trade: my morneau, ellsbury, and tejada for pujols, ludwick, and yunel escobar.

my team is:
c-wieters
1b-morneau
2b-cano
3b-longoria
ss-tejada
of-ellsbury
of-adam jones
of-nelson cruz
u-reynolds
bn-abreu
bn-kubel
bn-mccutchen
bn-vernon wells
dl-asdrubal cabrera

i think this is a move i should make. morneau and tejada are notorious for not playing as well in the 2nd half. i think in the 2nd half pujols will vastly outproduce morneau. escobar is a downgrade at ss but i don't think tejada can hold his pace. i also feel i have plenty of speed with cruz, reynolds, abreu, wells, and mccutchen so i can afford to lose ellsbury.

should i do this trade? i'm leaning towards doing it.

I think you should too. When the trade is complete I would start Abreu over Ludwick because your best stolen base producer will be gone.

i forgot to add his team
c-varitek
1b-pujols
2b-callaspo
3b-branyan
ss-escobar
of-markakis
of-rowand
of-ludwick
u-justin upton
bn-jose lopez
bn-cuddyer
dl-encarnacion

should i counter and include someone else instead of ludwick? i was thinking about upton/markakis but there is no way he would go for that deal.

i think ludwick would most likely ride the bench unless he gets hot which is why i'm thinking about countering for another outfielder.

I would try to get Justin Upton instead of Ludwick. He has more speed and great upside. I would play up the angle that Upton has had one horrible month and one great month so you are assuming some risk there. If he won't bite I might try putting in Adam Jones instead of Ellsbury. I know Jones' numbers are fantastic right now, but if you are adding Pujols this prevents the loss of SBs.

I like the angle of trying to grab Upton. Not sure he'll go for it, but I think it's close enough to try. If he doesn't bite, I'd offer Abreu rather than Ellsbury. That way you won't lose quite as many SBs.

that trade looks good for you. i dont think morneau will continue his current pace so definitely get pujols while you can.

Yeah, I would probably pull the trigger on that. Certainly try to squeeze what you can out of him, but I think in the end if it comes back to the initial deal, I'd still go for it.

help me out?

Pull the trigger for sure. I actually think Ludwick is a good buy low target and he can mash, he's just gotta get back into the swing of things, but getting Pujols. JUST PRESS ACCEPT!!!
