My roster is below. This team is hovering around 4th place. Even though I have Votto and Ar Ramirez who will be returning from the DL, I don't think they will improve my team enough to get to 1st or 2nd since my main weaknesses are Runs and Steals. My pitching staff (led by Dan Haren) has been great, and is the main reason I'm doing as well as I am.
I am thinking of offering the following deal: Howard and Haren for Kinsler and Crawford. This would give me a great boost in runs and steals without too much loss in power since Kinsler has so much more pop than my current 2B. Votto would play 1B and Crawford would fill my DH spot instead of Votto. I would try to make up for the loss of Haren by using Meche, Wolf, and Jimenez based on matchups. Right now, that pitching depth isn't doing me much good since they rarely crack my starting lineup.
I could also just offer Howard for Kinsler, offer some other variation, or stand pat.
Thank you for your thoughtful input in advance! If you leave a link I will certainly try to help with yours.
League 2: 12 Team, 5x5, Roto C - Pierzynski, 1B - Howard, 2B - F Lopez/Barmes, SS - Peralta, 3B - Lowell, OF - Beltran, Bay, Kemp, DH - N Johnson
P - Haren, Wainwright, Garza, Scherzer, Lidge, Qualls, B Wilson
Bench - Bats: Ar. Ramirez, Votto, F Lopez/Barmes, Arms: U Jimenez, Maine, Meche, Madson, Wolf
I wouldn't make that deal. You're trading away your best hitter and pitcher. If you're in desperate need of steals/runs pick somebody up from FA and start them every 3 out of 7 days. Or you could trade for someone like BJ Upton, Bourne, or Ellsbury; who aren't as expensive as Crawford.
I don't like what you're giving up here either. I like the idea of going after someone like Ellsbury instead as he's not going to cost you nearly as much as Crawford.
I would have to agree with these guys, go for a cheaper base stealer. I think crawford has come to earth hard in terms of base stealing, but someone who has had a lot less attention is heating up with steals, that's his teammate BJ Upton. He may still be a bit buy low given his slow start and would fill in just nicely on the DH.
Getting him may be a little harder though, I don't see anyone on your team that seems of equal value to him.
Going straight up Howard for Kinsler I think would be an upgrade for you but unless I was deep at second and had crap for a first basemen, I don't think I'd trade my Kinsler for Howard.
I always like the idea of spot starting someone off the waiver wire who can get you some cheap steals and runs. I know he's available on a lot of leagues, but I like Aaron Rowand batting leadoff for the Giants.
I like Figs a lot. I'll be honest, I'm no good at figuring out the values between pitchers and hitters, kind of like apples and oranges. I think the Angels heat up some more this year and I really like Figs high avg, runs and steals, he's perfect for what your looking for. Once Aramis is back, I'd move him to the DH.
I think a lot of it depends on the needs of the team you plan on trading with. Go scope out the teams that have Upton and Figgins and let us know if you see something lacking from their teams.
OK, I offered Wainwright for Figgins and Howard for Kinsler. I think both are fair, and I hope both are accepted. The guy with Figgins has Webb and Dice-K, so he should be interested in some pitching, and the guy with Kinsler is first in SBs and has Loney starting at 1B. Hope this works!

Those are both good deals for you. I doubt the figgins deal gets accepted though.
